news | Simone Morgantini, 15 February 2016

Grade-A start-up for the IRIDIUM® plant at the Avintiv facilities in San Luis Potosì (Mexico).

The start-up of the IRIDIUM® printing machine by A.Celli Nonwovens sold last year in Mexico to PGI, today Avintiv, recent member of the Berry Plastics Group, was concluded on 28th November, 2015 with excellent results!

The customer’s investment at the beginning of 2015 was part of its expansion plans for the Mexican production site of what was then PGI, with the clear intent of expanding the production of specialty materials towards the American continent. The IRIDIUM® Flexo printing system purchased by Avintiv, capable of printing variable width products in the range of 1600 mm to 2150 mm, is equipped with 4 colours, extendable to a maximum of 6 colours, and can attain a production speed of 450 m/min, guaranteeing the customer the utmost level of flexibility, many aesthetic advantages and high performances.

Besides the printing unit, the project also includes an unwinding system and a “NEXUS” winder equipped latest generation of in-line slitting system: state-of-the-art A.Celli Nonwovens technology with specific functions for registered printing. Additionally, an integrated shaft handling and finished reel handling system, a dust suction system and all the engineering work for line commissioning in order to guarantee excellent quality levels.

A high-end quality package correlated by structured capillary training and customer service, pride of A.Celli Nonwovens, that has already proven its potential by brilliantly passing its first major field test with this start-up, meeting – as always – the customer’s demands.

We are sure we will be hearing more about the performances of Avintiv’s Mexican plant that, thanks to Italian technology, has all the cards in order to reap one success after another.

IRIDIUM®: more than printing.
